· No two volcanoes are identical. Differences in geometry, regional geology, climate and especially magma composition dictate what type of eruption will occur, how powerful it will be and when it will occur at a volcano at any given time. That being said, however, many volcanoes can be grouped into similar types based upon eruptive behavior, geometry and geologic setting.
